Well, it's been a busy weekend.Congratulations to kailden for winning the football pool in week #5. There was a two-way tie for 1st place after the Monday night game between him and maryjane. The tie-breaker determined that kailden was the ultimate winner for week #5.
Once again congratulations to kailden and I hope that everyone is still enjoying the pool.
In other news, Angela and I went to Las Vegas for our one year anniversary. I was going to write a blow by blow accounting of the entire 4 day trip, but then I realized it would probably bore most people to tears. I will post the condensed version instead.
We flew out of Harrisburg on Thursday at about 6:30 getting eventually to Las Vegas at around 11pm local time. We walked around a bit on Thursday night but still running on Eastern Time we ran out of steam after only a couple hours.
The next day we spent most of the day poolside at our hotel, The Golden Nugget. That evening we saw Penn & Teller at The Rio. After the show, we caught a bus from the Rio to Harrahs casino on the strip, where we walked around doing the tourist thing for a bit.
On Saturday, we spent the day walking on the strip visiting the various casinos. That night we saw the show Mystere at Treasure Island. The show was incredible! When I bought tickets for the show I was worried that it wouldn't be as good as some of the other shows available. After seeing it, I wasn't worried any more. It was one of the highlights of the trip.
On Sunday, we once again spent most of the day walking through casinos on the strip. Angela bought herself a much needed pair of Skechers. She had forgotten to pack comfortable walking shoes and her feet were killing her. That evening we saw a show featuring a comedian/impressionist named "Downtown" Gordie Brown. The show was at The Golden Nugget. After the show we caught a bus to the Stratosphere where we had dinner at the Top Of The World restaurant. The view from our table was awesome. The restaurant is located on the 107th floor, and it rotates so in the course of your dinner you see the entire city of Las Vegas laid out before you. I don't think I've ever been in a building that tall. When you ride the elevator up to the 107th floor, your ears pop from the altitude.
On Monday, we had breakfast at the buffet in our hotel, did some last minute shopping, packed our bags, and grabbed a taxi to the airport. We left Las Vegas at about 2:30pm Vegas time and got back to Harrisburg at 11pm Monday night.
Back to work, back to reality...
We took lots of pictures, so check those out here
All in all, we had a great time. Four days is nowhere near enough time in Las Vegas. I felt like we had only scratched the surface of everything you can see there.
